Albury Wodonga Cycling Club is proud to present Geoff Dixon Memorial Handicap. Come along and start the racing season with a fun and relax race around beautiful rolling country side around Chiltern. It will a great opportunity to test the legs after a summer of training.

CRITS RETURN

Fire up bike fans! The 2012 Border Racing Season gets under way with criterium racing at the Wodonga go-kart circuit. Even if you are not up for racing, come on down to watch all the racing action. See who has and hasn't been putting in the K's over the summer.

Format: Graded criteriums, A B & C grades
When: February 2nd, 9th, 16th, 23rd. Rego from 5:40pm, racing from 6pm
Where: Wodonga go-kart circuit.
Entry: $5, (coins, $5 or $10 notes only please)

Please note:

Remember to bring along your 2012 licence or receipt.
The races on the 16th will be the 2012 Criterium Championships.
Three races permits available for newbies, $55 dollars.

Happy New Year! Now is the time to start thinking (if you haven’t already!) about the year of racing ahead with all the challenges and fun that it will bring. Have you also thought of helping out at all to make these events happen? At present our club is in need of at least two additional Race Committee members for the 2012 season.

The main job of the Race Committee is to plan and execute our larger races which consist of the Geoff Dixon Memorial, the Wagga to Albury Handicap and the Giro d’Bellbridge. Duties include attending one or two meetings before a large race and helping to set up on the race day. The commitments of the Race Committee have been significantly eased this year as our club will not be running the Rutherglen Classic and we are now rostering marshaling duties. Despite this, we still need more people on the Race Committee as many hands make light work!

If you feel that you could help out on the Race Committee, please don’t hesitate to contact me for a chat.

National Champ!

Congratulations to AWCC member Glen Jarvis who yesterday won MC2 1000m time trail at the National Track Para-Cycling Championships at DISC, Melbourne. Winning in a time of 1:27.751 to gets over New South Wales’ Andrew Falconer (1:28.712). He victory was all the more impressive given the fact that Glen had to metal plates insert into faces after crashing at the Crits a few weeks ago. Awesome Victory Glen!

Group Riding

Group rides every Sunday (maybe not Christmas Day) from Astor Hotel starting at 7:30am. This will continue until club racing starts again. It could be long, could be short, to be decided on the day (no more 2 hours if it's hot day). All welcome, see y'all there.

Crits Week 3.

Last night crits results. Some great racing was had with B grade being a particularly entertaining race.

A grade was abandon due to a minor crash just before the finish.

Crits Week Two

We extended the course tonight to included the top loop of circuit which was very well revived. The highlights of the night was Jeremy Ross solo win in A grade and Ryan Allen edging out Daniel Lancaster by centimetres in B grade.

Crits Week One

Summer criterium racing kicked off last night. We had fantastic numbers with 30 showing up for the first night including some new faces which is great to see. Great racing was had too. Some highlights of night included Washo's solo breakaway win in A grade and Adam Farrugia's gutsy win in B grade after being very close to being drop half way through the race.
